Wap gateway is a software system that helps web-enabled wireless devices
to communicate to Internet web sites and applications. A WAP gateway/proxy
sits between mobile devices using the WAP/Wireless HTTP-TCP protocol
and the World Wide Web, passing data from one to the other much like
a proxy. Port 9200 is used when the phone is configured for Connection-Less mode (also called Session Mode / Connection Type = Temporary in Nokia handsets). Port 9201 is used when the phone is configured for Connection-Oriented mode (also called Session Mode / Connection Type = Permanent in Nokia handsets). So depending on what value the Session Mode / Connection Type is set in your wap/gprs/data connection account you can specify either port 9200 or 9201. Our Wap Gateway provides full support for mobile handsets which support WAP v1.1 to v1.3 versions which connect on port 9200 or 9201. We have now added an Wireless HTTP/TCP Proxy Server interface that can be used by WAP v2.0 version clients which support Wireless HTTP and TCP. The Wireless HTTP (WAP 2.0) Proxy server IP address is 209.160.66.215 ( alternatively you can specify the Proxy as our DomainName instead of the IP address as http://wap-gateway.net ) which can be set in your phone along with the Wireless HTTP Proxy port 8080. If your phone uses a standard internet proxy server for mobile web access, typically indicated by the use of port 80 or 8080 then its a WAP v2.0 version device. In a nutshell if your device supports WAP v1.1 to v1.3 versions then you need to connect to port 9200 or port 9201 and if your device supports WAP v2.0 (HTTP) version then you need to port 8080. Wap-Gateway.com also only works with the unencrypted version of the connectionless (port 9200) and connection oriented (port 9201) WAP modes. It does not work with the encrypted version (ports 9202 and 9203.) |
